Ramón Melendi Espina (Oviedo, January 21, 1979), artistically known as Melendi, is a Spanish singer-songwriter. His specialties in music are pop, rock, and formerly, rumba.

In his youth, Melendi studied at the IES Alfonso II in Oviedo, where he met the Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso, for whom he composed the song El Nano, included in the album Que el cielo espere sentao. As a young man, he was not so attracted to music, his biggest passion being football; sport that led him to a short career as a footballer, debuting in several lower categories in the team of his city, Real Oviedo.

Melendi left professional football in early 2001, the same year he decided to take his first steps as a musician, forming part of a band created with his friends named Sherwood Forest, with which he made a dozen performances in various venues of the Oviedo area.

Melendi travels to Madrid between August and September of 2002, to the Oasis studios of the Spanish capital, where he begins to record his debut album, titled as one of his first songs, Sin noticias de Holanda.

In 2004, one of the songs from his first album, “Con la luna llena”, is chosen as the official song of the Vuelta Ciclista a España that same year, and in turn, Melendi is elected revelation singer.

The 2005 was marked for Melendi by the birth of his daughter Carlota, being thus father for the first time, and by the launching to the market of its second disc, That the sky waits for seated.

His debut album, titled Sin noticias de Holanda went on sale on February 11, 2003. It was produced by Kike Eizaguirre, and managed to sell more than 400,000 copies, getting four platinum records. After the success of his first album, on April 25, 2005 he released his second album, entitled Que el cielo espere sentao, produced again by Kike Eizaguirre. This album managed to sneak into the sales top of that year, getting three platinum records and selling more than 300,000 copies. On November 13, 2006, he released his third album titled «No cost work». This work got two Platinum Discs, selling more than 200,000 copies. In 2007, a reissue of the album entitled While it costs no more work is released. After two years without publishing record work, in 2008, the artist returns with Curiosa the face of your father, produced this time by José de Castro. This album managed to sell more than 40,000 copies, thus obtaining a Gold Record. In 2009, the reedición of the album with the title Even more curious the face of your father is published. A year later he published his first live album entitled Directo a Septiembre, recorded on September 19 of the same year in Las Ventas. It was also his first album released by Sony Music. This album managed to be a Gold Record, selling more than 20,000 copies. In 2016 Quit the glasses, album that got to be Platinum Double Disc, selling more than 80,000 copies. In 2017 his first compilation album is published under the name Yo me veo contigo. This album included three CDs. A review of all the themes of his career, collaborations and unpublished topics. On March 9, 2018, he released his most recent album titled Ahora. This includes collaborations with Alejandro Sanz, among other artists.
